if u ask me, i'll tell u tht i don't even want to think about it.....i don't want to go anywhere near there...

last week, my primary schoolmate lost his girlfriend to a bus accident which occured near Slim River...click here to read the news...

i heard tht his gf was actually on her way to meet him.....i feel terribly sorry for him...because the feeling of losing someone you love is just unbearable..

yannee told me that his gf is a very bright student *she's a 1st yr medical student studying in NSW uni*, a cheerful person n every1 ard her loves her....so i asked yannee for her blog link

yannee was right!! she's a lovely girl....she seems to be enjoying life a lot...n from her posts, she shows a lot of love for her family n her bf...

some of her posts brought tears into my eyes...1 of them was a post blogged on 8th March 07

in this post...she said that she misses her family..n she will b missing CNY2007 in Msia....she hopes she'll b able to join her family for CNY 2008.....T.T........

shopping therapy..

actually i dun need a shopping therapy la...jus mengada-ing ony....

i dint know y but i jus had to get out of the hse..so i suggested to liping to go shopping on saturday..which is today....weeeee~~

n i did get a few items....hehe...

i dint kno y i buy it for...i mean i cant even wear it now...wth~ it's still freaking winter season....

but then i supposed i still could wear it for 1st day of CNY n freeze myself to death since P105 is having a CNY class party..hooray~~~

we UK ppl very kesian la...have to clb CNY in winter...sobsob...

parcel!!!

my hsemates asked me y i dint blog bout my parcel......

sebenarnya.....i am very lazy to blog nowadays la....or maybe im jus tired from working in the lab....haihz....

i've been procrastinating to blog bout the Edinburgh zoo trip....hehe...u guys go read ping's blog 1st la..

anywayz....i've received my air-mailed parcel yesterday morning......so0oo soo00oo happie larrrrr.....sthn from home always means a lot!!

the 1st thing i saw when i opened the box was this...

ONE angpau.........just one only.....*gosh! i've nvr actually taken a pic of an angpau b4...like wat the....back in msia...carrefour, giant, guardian all give angpau....but over here it's like some rare item...*


eh? ada duit kat dalam kut.....

haha...of course not la....there was a THANK YOU CARD inside....

erm....looks like my family got infected by the "lame bug" too.....every1 ard me is getting lamer...

it reads "thank you for making us happy".....woohoo~~~ hahaha...my family so "ke ai" 1....

n they wish every1 happy chinese new year! popo said tht she'll hutang my angpau 1st..nex yr give me DOUBLE! *actually i think my parents should increase my angpau money cuz i scared after few more yrs i wun b getting angpau adi....22 yrs old liao...T_T*


inside the parcel, there were also CNY cookies: pineapple tarts, coffee cookies and almond crisps...

not forgetting the main attraction of the parcel....popo's secret recipe sambal....mmMMmmm....


jus now after dinner, we tried my popo's pineapple tarts n they were as delicious as ever....every tart was made my popo's own 2 hands......when i ate them, i really miss my popo.....

then my hsemates ejek me.."ohh...shirlyn's going to cry adi...." then mana tau this mein said "yalor...every tart very hard to make 1...mus wrap fast so the filling/crust wun melt in ur hands...very hard 1"....

so in the end i tak jadi emo....-_-

good thing oso la...haha..tq mein....if not i'll cry then u guys will have to susah payah pujuk me/cry with me.....

im in semester 8 now!! woo hoo~~ my final semester....after tht, im DONE!!in 6 mths' time, i'll b a graduate..how cool is tht?!??

but final yr is nvr the best....sob...it's torturing laaa....

i've got like sso00oooo many things to do, deadlines to meet, notes to study....

my final year research project

since last Monday, i've been camping inside the lab from 9.30am - 5pm everyday!! this week is the 2nd week n i hav 1 more week to go..weeEEeee~~

these lab sessions are part of my final year research project...n the title is " Mechanical Properties of Silicone Strips"

hahaAHahah...i bet u dint know the other uses of silicone besides making women's boobies bigger....

let me tell u laa...silicones are also used in making contact lenses, heart valves, finger joints...

and because of its ability to control the release of drugs (So tht drugs can be released slowly for a long period of time..then ppl dun have to keep popping pills..yada yada)...it's used in transdermal patches, intravaginal devices etc etc.....

at 1st i tot i was goin to deal with intravaginal devices u kno....it's like so interesting rite....*i have a thing for reproductive system related stuff...*

mana tau...my supervisor wanted us to deal with silicone strips that can be delivered to the small intestines to treat inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD)....-_-

okla...fine! there r 6 of us in a grp...n i was assigned the most non-chemistry/totally-physics related topic....dono whether should feel fortunate or unfortunate....hmmMMmm

soo0oo...this is what i do everyday...

i hang different weights of masses on the strips to see how much it can STRETCH....thus my professor likes to call me "THE STRETCHER!!"....okkaaayyyyyyy.....

creative onot?? hahaha...none of it was my idea FYI.....all my professor's idea.....

BUT....the BUBBLE WRAP..was my idea.....u know y.....those masses fall if the strips break..n they make loud "DONG's!" when they hit the table...hahaha...so to prevent mua from going deaf or getting a heart attack....i decided to put the bubble wrap there....

n this is how i make silicone strips.....i spread the silicone onto glass slides n let them harden (they will harden cuz i added some secret recipe la!)....the HAIRDRYER there is to make the hardening process faster....NONE of these were my idea too....haihz..i tell u ar..my creativity = zero


im bonding with my silicones so well tht when i weigh them, i could accurately scoop out the amount i want....(tho it happened jus once! but considered quite geng adi when the weighing balance is in 2 decimal points k!)...

thus im also known as "THE SILICONE QUEEN" by my professor.....-_-

im not going to go anywhere near silicone after i finish my lab sessions man...my hair has silicone, my fingers have silicone eventho i've washed them....i SMELL like silicone...blllarrddyyy!!

btw, i also make mango jeruk in the lab....


ok...enuff....anymore interesting stuff i'll post them up la....but dun keep ur hopes high....i doubt there's gonna b any interesting stuff happening in the lab....unless there's a fire or sthn la...*touchwood*....

BUT......this shall b not-a-very-short but meaningful post....

a tribute to all our tour guides throughout the London & Manchester trip.....5 days- 4 tour guides....we gurls r lucky eh....hahaha..

1. Su Khok - the most hardworking tour guide

he looked up in Wikipedia bout the history of the places we visited....this king bla bla....this place yada yada....this bridge bla bla.....

endless interesting stories bout London....stories tht will get stuck in our heads forever....

he even called up his friend to ask n check whether he was telling us the right thing..sso00oo responsible of him...hahaha....

sk, sorry ya....i dun have any hemsem pics of u...this 1 is the most hensem pic i've got! bcuz u're looking down....hahaha...jjk la....we jus like to bully u la sk!!! =)

2. kim tat - the most entertaining tour guide



kim tat is the funniest tour guide we ever had....can u point out wats wrong with this pic??

his 2nd fingers are pointing up!! we noticed that whenever he holds up his chopstick n bowl, he does that! it's like a reflex action...he cant help it...he said he feels more comfortable like tht wor...

almost every sentence tht he speaks could make us laugh till our teeth drop....li ping "kim tat..u're very uncle la...no wonder u're such good frens with jin aun, because he's very aunty.."

looks like i came in between u 2 gay couples n became the 3rd party huh.....sorry ya kim tat...he chose me over u....hehe....

3. ryan - the most short-term tour guide

ryan is mein's friend from JB who came to London to study architecture...he has been there for 5 yrs!!!

well..it's not ryan's fault tht he's the most short term tour guide we had.....we met ryan for lunch n he brought us to st paul's....but we dint have much time left, so we rushed to st paul's n rushed back to the hostel.....we almost missed the bus to Manc!!!!

poor ryan had to RUN with us.....ehehe....

4. Wen Hoi - the most responsible tour guide....



we actually kicked Wen Hoi out of his room n poor him had to sleep in the living room...haha...so sweet of him rite...

Wen Hoi teman-ed us the whole day on the 4th day eventho he had exams coming up! he went shopping with us n waited for us patiently while we went into the fitting rooms....

he made sure tht we were safe all the time, like tht time when kah yie n wen jiun wanted to stay in taiwu for supper, he offered to stay with them...but in the end we just take-away la...so we all went back together....mayb bcuz he's the only man n he feels he's responsible for our safety..hehe...

when we almost missed the bus back to Glasgow *yes i kno..again!*, he was even more worried than us....

good job wen hoi!! i shall praise u more in front of my popo so tht ur mum gets the msg ya! haha...

i just wan to say a BIG THANK YOU to all our tour guides who made our trip an enjoyable n memorable one.....eventho we spent such a short time together, it was definitely worth every second of it coming down all the way from glasgow...hope to c u guys again ok!!

Manchester - Day 4 & 5

the next day, we headed to a place conquered by chinese - chinatown, for brunch....


visited old trafford...

then to trafford centre...think hai fon, darren n gang took a pic at this place too....hehe..

shopped n shopped....n when we left trafford centre, we found out tht Krispy kreme was still open!!! it's Krispy Kreme time....*Wen Hoi screamed!!*
Wen Hoi is such a big fan of K.Kreme la...look at his happy face....

Manchester Eye...kecik punya ferris wheel compared to London Eye....


ppl ppl....i jus found out tht Wong Wong Bakery sells really yummy pearl tea for 2.50pounds....slurp! makes me miss Msia's pasar malam pearl tea....rm2.50...

this is my "hasil" - 2 shorts from MNG, summer dress from Freespirit...n a red devil shirt from Megastore.....all these to bring back Msia to wear...haha....

London & Manchester - Day 3

it was kinda boring la..nuthin much happened...but since it's sorta like a must thing for tourist..so jus go lor...
