mayb bcuz i've not worked for a long time...or bcuz the work was jus plainly energy-demanding...im so freaking tired rite now....
my arms from my shoulders till the tip of my fingers r sore..
my legs r oedematous...
my eyes r blur...
n blardy *tut*....i got a burn on my hand....n this was how it happened..
i was arranging the soup bowls....n 1 of the workers brought hot-boiling soup n poured it into the pot...the soup spilled on my hand...i felt pain, but i dint know tht it was goin to b a bad burn...so i took a napkin n wiped off the spill....n gosh! i literally wiped off my skin too...i could c my flesh rite away... even blood vessels....
now, the wound looks shiny....it's not tht painful UNLESS it comes in contact with water....argh.....i worked from 1-9.30pm....n i stood up the whole time...except for the 20mins break which i got to eat the buffet...but the restaurant was full so i gotta eat in the kitchen/storeroom...i felt like cinderella...
1-3pm - keeping plates tht the guests r done with...bcuz we're asked to work fast..n i mean REALLY FAST...whenever u c an empty plate or the guest looks as if he/she has finished with his/her plate, u have to take it away...seriously...u'll feel dizzy after a while..bcuz the interior of the restaurant is black, n u really have to "scan" for empty plates..if not the manager will come nagging...
3-8.30pm - in the kitchen wiping plates tht just came out of the dishwasher...thts where i got my sore arms from...i wiped like few thousands of plates in the 5 n a half hrs ok....i worked in swensen's as a waitress b4..n i wiped plates n serve customers too..but my arms only became sore after 1 week of working....i am not exagerrating ok....it took me quite an effort to wash my hair jus now with 1 sore left arm...
8.30-9.30pm - helped out in the bar...the manager actually sees me being a future part-time bartender...wow!! tht's so cool..haha...im interested...but the thing tht makes me think twice bout continuing this job is the pay....
do u kno tht they're actually paying below the UK minimum wage???!!??? they're only paying me 4 pounds an hr while they shd b payin 5.52pounds an hr *after the increment in wage next week*
r we chinese considered as cheap labour in the UK???

manager: oh...bcuz the turnover here is quite high...we can find another part-time quite easily..so there's no point increasing the pay...*jual mahal*
hmph! will think abt working there for the 2nd time la...i'll definitely dump this job once i get another job...WITH A HIGHER PAY!!

I think the reason for the low pay is because they are not employing u legally.
Always happens with chinese restaurant. Do they ask you to sign any contract stating the wage? Did they ask for your National Insurance number?
I doubt they do such a thing... hence the below min wage salary. U'll be better off working in Tesco/Sainsburys or even fashion shops (like Topshop, etc).
they didnt ask me to sign anything...i didnt have to fill up any forms which is weird bcuz u usually have to do tht in the UK rite....
they did ask for my NI number tho..but im not supposed to show them my pay slip or report my wage to the office...hence, they escape from paying the min wage...
hehe, i tot i'm the only one who complain after working there. i tot is bcos i never do this kind of work before, mana tau our super energetic ln actually feel tired after working there...

Why not work in Tesco or Sainsburys? Cashier's pay is good (~£5-7/hour) and also very relax (no need to even pack the bags for customers). Just sit down and scan scan...
